Community Service

Each "Becado" (scholarship student) completes at least one day of community service for each year they are in school. We strive to support our students not only in their academic lives but also in their in their personal development and lives within the community. These projects allow students the opportunity to give back to their community and the environment in which they live.

Community Service, 2012: May, Planting trees in Chola

On May 27, 2012 the scholarship students planted 200 trees in a nearby town called Chola.  The town has a recreation center and new playground which were recently built by the Community Tourism Association and Peace Corps Volunteer Hilary Kilpatric.  The scholarship students had a great day planting trees (at least 2 trees each) and cleaning up the area (including making making minor repairs and picking up the trash).
